Swimming Diaries

10th May
6:00 PM, In the Swimming Pool

My parents had to pay 10,000 bucks annual fee for the club membership!! So, i went swimming today. The rule was simple: construction then destruction. I need to take my medicine of 10 laps before i play with my friends and i do that everyday.

Hilarious episodes took place today. First, Apratim spits on Ramyajit and starts freaking him out for a minute  by saying stuff like ''Ramyajit i love you, we'll get married and live in a cottage,'' :p !! It was so much of fun!! Then, Ramyajit asked Apratim to drown himself, and he did a really dramatic act by saying ''Bachao, Bachao, main doob raha hoon, Mai (mummy) main aa raha hoon! (Save me save me! i'm drowning! Oh Mother i am coming to you!) Then, he clings to Ramyajit and says, ''Meri jaan! mat jaa!'' (My life, Dont go!)

Then came the epic drama! Opu has a bad habit of splashing water in everyone's eyes. He does it to Anamika too. So today, Anamika held his hair really hard and tried to drown him in the water for fun. he knew it. its been done before. But Opu got hurt and angry and left the pool.

6:30 Pm : Outside The Changing Room.

Anamika gets to know the real reason behind Opu's anger from Ramyajit, and we finally decide not to go to Opu's house for Cheese Sandwiches. (2b continued) Anamika found it irrelevant. I agreed, and we met Trisha on the way. We walked back home together.

Trisha was extremely upset in school today because our stupid Geo teacher caught her in some other bus room today, yelled at her really hard, took away her ID, and threatened to call her parents. i was trying to console her by teasing her, when Opu and Ramyajit came from the gate and thoughtfully handed us a pack of Kurkure. I was busy talking to Trisha so i didn't really pay attention to what they were saying, but in the end, Ramyajit yells out to me ''Khushi! teach your friend some manners'' and i demanded and explanation from Anamika, who told me that Ramyajit wanted Anamika to apologize to Opu.

Anamika had a perfectly valid point- It wasn't as if Opu never hit her in the pool, or splashed water in her eyes. he was equally at blame. I agree with her

According to me, Both of them should apologize to each other. That fixes it for today.

Iron Man 3

Today, i went to see Iron man 3 with Nimmi and Anamika, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) was looking as awesome as ever before. That salt and pepper crisp look was to die for, i really envy Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) but they make a great couple. Just Loved the movie! Even though there is no more Iron man, Stark has turned in to a normal man (as if!).  He'll still be our favorite billionaire playboy and Sherlock Holmes, (cute! ;) ) 

Meanwhile, we went with my father and all, we enjoyed a lot with popcorn and nachos and ice teas, where me and Anamika finished off all the nachos and left Nimmi to eat the sauce and i helped her because i loved the sauce. The cheese sauce like always was a bit weird. It was sort of sour and not cheesy. But that's the way it always tastes, until i found out it isn't just cheese  but jalapeno cheese :(
And then Nimmi and Anamika had to use the washroom (Nimmi, because she had drunk too much Pepsi and Anamika, because its her usual schedule. -_-), and then we heard a voice coming out from inside the washroom which said ''Ahh'' by Nimmi and we laughed because of how wrong it sounded.

Then in the car, when Nimmi was trying to read a message and said baadi (which means ''home'' or ''house'' in Bengali) and i heard ''Maa ki'' (somewhat a fragment of a Hindi slang ''maa ki ankh'') and Nimmi and Anamika started laughing because my father was in front and could hear everything. I didn't mean it that way and didn't realize, so when Anamika translated it in English ''Mother's eye'' i could not help, but worriedly exclaim ''what happened to her mother's eye?''

Which caused even more laughter.



Then when i heard the Hindi version ''Maa ki Ankh'' i understood. And even i started laughing with them.

Then Nimmi has this really irritating ringtone which i tried to fix, and then she tried to fix it when i failed and eneded up putting on some song with starts with k and we were taking out weird meanings of what it actually meant. The song was really very funny. 

And to our surprise, in the same movie hall, we saw Diya sitting there with two of her friends (;) boys) and she came down to our seat and shyly tugged my sleeve to acknowledge my presence and then ran away. I waved at her 10 times at least after that. We met later at the park, after my father went home, and we were dropping Nimmi home, in the park. We talked for a while and shared ice tea with Diya and Arav (guy 1). Earlier in the mall, after the movie ended, Diya had come up to talk to us and show us where she had split Nacho salsa sauce on her dress. We couldn't help laughing. 

It was a wonderful day. Its thundering outside, and whats better for a lovely ending than a pleasant shower?

Shower=rain=swimming cancelled.

Opu and Anamika's interesting Email Exchange!! :P

I have narrated down a very romantic email, sent by Arpan Gupta Ray to Anamika Sarker, right before he leaves for USA forever (yeah, you heard me right, FOREVER)

A few weeks back, Anamika recieves the following email from Opu:

''Dear Anamika

Hey, dude maybe I have fallen in love with someone called anamika.... if u know who she is :)... dude I never expecting something like this from u..... ok.... So maybe the truth is I can't get over u unless I move to USA...

I hope u get it.... I Still remember ur bday and ur favourite colour (orange) Maybe u made a mistake but u really think I can get over u....

 

I know it looks easy well its not... SO TELL ME... If there is anything to say about this S***.... OR END IT DNT USE ME ANYMORE LIKE A TOY NOT EVEN ROMO!!!!!

To which Anamika sends an interesting reply back:

To which Opu wrote back...sadly:

Yuck!! Today, we went down to play or rather, cycle. After a good couple of 10 rounds, i met Apratim and Ramyajit going to Anamika's house to call her. They saw me and decided to stay down. We took turns cycling. By that time, Anamika came. Apratim had to take care of his brother Andy (Aniruddh :) ) and he and Ramyajit went away. The irony was- he had been hired to take care of his brother for 20 MINS!

Me and Anushna went on another couple of rounds while Anamika waited. When we came back, Apratim, Ramyajit and Andy were there, with Anamika. By looking at Andy and Ramyajit together, I couldn't help remarking how they looked more like brothers than Apratim, to which Apratim commented by saying '' Are you mad? he (Ramyajit) looks like a donkey!'' and a wild cat chase begun between them, with Anamika holding the hand of a very uncomfortable Andy. 
She (Anamika) finally got sick of it and got down on her knee, in front of Andy and said ''hello!''.
Maybe it was Andy's discomfort of being away from his dada (Apratim) or that Anamika scared him, but instead of waving back and saying hello, he screamed '''DA-DADA'' and started to cry. It was ironic.  we all were laughing!

Apratim took Andy to the park. We followed him there. We had not gone to the park for ages, because we kept to the roads mostly, and were shocked to find the entire park covered in a red allergic sand, which stuck to your skin. We ran out of there as fast as we could. Apratim, Andy, Ramyajit were wearing sneakers, so they were in no hurry at all.

After Gauri Goes

Did i ever mention about Gauri? 
well she IS...one of my best friends..and then..her father got 

transferred to Delhi, were they used to live earlier. When she had first come here, she had told us so much about her old school, Amity International, that i used to think that life there would be great. In fact, a part of me thought, that Gauri would be glad to go there. She was..before she realized what it actually was.

From what Gauri told me, Amity International people seemed good at heart, but were airheads. They had no idea about the number of BUILDINGS their school had and had absolutely no scope to complete their work.  It was pretty hard for Gauri, not being bale to complete her work even when she wanted to. And worse still, she ended up in the same section which her ex- arch enemy, some girl whose name starts with 'N' maybe, but is totally unimportant to me anyways, even if she was MY arch enemy.
I said ex enemy because i don't think Gauri cares now. Its just...its a waste. a person like Gauri who's actually aware of the...unflattering consequences of her school, a girl like her could literally RULE it. I mean, does being in favor with the teachers hurt that much? i have lived my life like that FOREVER. and i have loved my school life. In fact, the thought of not going to school seems unnatural. As if, it were a part of me i needed the most. And if Gauri could make an attempt to try...i'm sure she'll be the best girl Amity International has ever had.
But the best i can do for her is to tell her this, the rest is on her. I wish her luck for the future.

Revolution

so, as i told you, i started cycling.
and so, i was neglecting the friend circle a lot. They didn't have anything to do and before long, Anamika started cycling with me too. 
It was followed by Nimmi, Ramyajit, Opu and Apratim.
And could you believe it? other children of the complex were all seen on the cycles. Even fat Kaustav, who used to go  about on his ice cream truck of a cycle.
Sometimes, its nice to bring about a change
It feels nice.
especially when you cause it.

The current news

No one's talking
every one's ganged up against each other.
I have decided. i'm not wasting my time. I'm cycling. 
Enough days of chat and discussion on Chaturthi first floor. Its time for a change.
A revolution.
And i got a new cycle for my birthday, by the way.
Its a shiny green Hercules, and i can't get enough of it. Its beautiful.
When i ride it, i'm in a different dimension. I'm flying in the air brushing on my face. I'm a part of the music blaring in my ears. 
And so, it gives me a reason to forget my group.
Not an excuse.
A reason.
And i won't regret it.
Oh.
And i dint tell you.
About the Renaissance everyone....EVERYONE....went through..
and it was beautiful.

I Dont Give A D-A-M-N

Its all sorted out
i have been updating this thing after a long time.. a lot has happened. There have been more fights and cat fights which involved claws and talons (if you know what i mean). 
But its all sorted out.
and one thing is for sure, people learn from mistakes. 
and i have so stopped trusting everyone. or rather, i am careful about what i share with whom. I mean, in the group.
A group..calling it that seems so weird. a friend circle which changed into something like this. Like a Facebook group, which totally provides you an option of exiting or joining back again. 
So fine.
That's what i'm treating it as. A Facebook Group, which gives me the permission to join or leave any time i want, with permission of the admin.
And admit it or not, i am the admin
Yeah.

So i don't really give a damn now. I have been tirelessly working to keep the work in place. But now, you can change the statement to past tense. Because its hard when others don't want it. I'm tired of being a mother to a family who doesn't want to stay together. So be it. Let the mom change
the group exists. My posts will. But if you catch me doing something which is wrong. Jostle back me into reality.
Because i know i have better things to look forward to.

my Exit from the group

Tears are streaming from my eyes as i walked away from the washroom.
They were actually arguing about who hated me most. The tears which came out hurt and pierced me. I knew that i wasn't upset, but angry.
I had recently found out that Nimmi was not being very faithful to her boyfriend Haigreev, from two very untrue sources
so i confronted her.
and there were screams and lies and I hated it
so I walked away.
My exit.

Anamika And Apratim

It was at a rock show when i first began to suspect that Apratim had a crush on Anamika.
He used to tell her EVERYTHING, and had openly declared that he thought she was the better of all the girls. He never used to react with strong denial whenever i used to say that i thought he had a crush on her. He used to grin stupidly instead.
Once i was out of station and Opu and Anamika were still in a relationship. When i came back i found out that Apratim and Anamika were sort of in a relationship, and she and Opu had broken up.
Then Apratim confessed to me that he did have a little crush on Anamika, but he loved his girlfriend, Aritri, way more. He also said that Aritri would be going forever on Friday and he would need a source of comfort, which he saw in Anamika. 
And after a few days, even after Aritri's going was cancelled, Apratim and Anamika were in a steady relationship.
It was very cheesy. They used to continuously hold hands and sit close together. All this used to constantly increase attachment for Apratim in Anamika's heart, who didn't actually love him much earlier.
Then a long time later, Apratim started to Double Date on Anamika with a girl called Megha. He  was afraid of breaking her heart, so he couldn't bring himself to tell Anamika that it was over between them.
When he finally did, Anamika was heartbroken. She had grown to love him by that time, and had an immense crush on him. It subsided don after she confessed having a crush on another guy, whose name is top secret and cannot be told.
Apratim and Anamika therefore ended all romantic connections right there. Apratim stopped coming to us and went back to play sports and slowly the group started to break apart.
Apratim currently loves Megha, and having talked to her, she is a very sweet human being and also a good secret keeper. A very ''happy-go-lucky'' type of person i'd call. Though, i haven't met her personally, just chatted with her on Facebook.
I'll keep you updated with more chapters with all the juicy gossip!

Crazy Taxi of Three

Me, Anamika and Wani used to play together a lot earlier. Wani had a cycle, a small red one, with low peddles. And we three, were getting bored when a brainwave hit us all.
It was actually Anamika's idea. It was dangerous, yet worth a try.
The idea was, that one person would pedal from behind and the other would control the steering. I wasn't much of and adventurer, and due to the approaching exams and thoughts of lying in bed with a plastered leg, restrained myself from a try.
So, here i was, beside them on a scooty when Anamika and Wani were carrying on with their crazy plan. Wani peddling, Anamika controlling the steering. They were looking dangerous, cars were dodging them and it was a miracle no accidents happened.
Anamika messed up thee balance with her steering and the fell down with a crash on top of me. We three lay there, for a long time, laughing and thinking how crazy we are.
A wave of problems hit us which caused Wani to slowly drift apart from us, but she was still there. We did the new year countdown together, laughed and played together.
Sometimes when in a tight spot which compels me to cry, I wish hard that i could cycle out of this problem with Anamika and Wani, with Wani on the peddle, Anamika on the steering and me beside them, a constant companion.

Nimmi and Ramyajit

Nimmi had a crush on Ramyajit since he had come here.
She had been vying for his attention by pretending she didn't care about him. And then through the group, they were brought closer.
Both were mad about each other at first, but due to some risk of families finding out, Nimmi broke up with Ramyajit. Some also said that she had lost interest in him. But Ramyajit still loved her a lot so he made plans of proposing her again, and Nimmi refused him only after muttering a few confusing words about how she didn't say yes but no either.
On one occasion downstairs in Chaturthi, Nimmi was finding Ramyajit's behavior so adorable that she went up to him and said yes.
This second patch up lasted the longest. The most romantic time of this relationship was during when Nimmi's mom started the water ballet, or a form of synchronized swimming. They were the king and queen of those times.
But then again, they had to break up during the pujas. We had gone up to Nimmi's house where she had called Ramyajit and told him how much she loved him. But this time, Ramyajit didn't propose her again.
Instead he was very hurt when just after a few days, Nimmi got a new boyfriend called Haigreev Kejriwal, a guy who sits beside me in class. He has a lot of bitter feelings for Nimmi in his heart now, but underneath which, love for her still lies in abundance.

Opu And Anamika Part1

Today, i'll tell you the dramatic story of Opu and Anamika's relationship. Before that, let me tell you, in India, relationships are NOT cool with parents. They find it stupid and cheap. So, naturally, this patch up was hidden from the parents.
I remember playing a game of hide and seek with everyone. Opu and Anamika were coming towards us, running and laughing. That's when someone said ''Don't they look good together? Opu has often been caught sharing secrets with her too!'' and that's when the teasing started.
And then i had to finally corner Anamika and ask her if she liked him. She just smiled at me mysteriously and said ''Ask him first''
And so after a lot of persuasiveness, Arpan Gupta ray (Opu's real name), admitted that he likes Anamika.
I was the happy carrier of this news. Then Anamika also said that she had a crush on Opu since the first day they had met. And then both of them were together.
It even resulted in a lot of quarrels, but we managed to keep this a secret. 
Meanwhile, Anamika has a friend called Chhotu , who had found out about the two of them and was threatening to tell Anamika's mom. We held her in an arm lock and told her to swear that she wont tell Aunty ANYTHING. After a lot of difficulty and menace, she agreed.
But on one occasion, she got really angry, she called Anamika's mom and told her each and everything, and very meanly she even added that from now on, whatever Anamika said to her about this matter, it would be a lie, and not to believe her. Anamika, in a very bossy manner, with an air which said ''I don't give a damn i am the apple of my mom's eye'', she went to the phone and said ''Mom when do i come home?''
But Aunty's voice was curt and sharp ''Right now. We need to talk''
.....
Me, Nimmi and Diya could listen to Anamika arguing with her mom inside he house, crying, choking on tears. Then all went silent and i couldn't believe when I was called in by Anamika's mom.
She said, she only believed in my word and she wanted to speak to me.
I was called into Anamika's room, where she was lying face down and crying. I wish i could go and console her. Her mom asked me if any ''i-love-you's'' or ''kisses'' had been exchanged. I knew i am supposed to tell the truth. A lie would make it worse. I remembered Anamika blushing on Valentine's day and telling me that Opu had called her in the staircase and kissed her on the cheek, also he had said he loved her. I told this to her mother, only to be rebuked by Anamika, who was denying that this had happened. I told her that you had told me on Valentine's Day. And then she confessed it was all a joke.
So they broke up and Anamika was grounded. Opu still loved Anamika. Anamika had strange dreams about Opu. 
This so very dramatic romeo-Juliet tale PART 1, remember, ended right here.

How ''Da Group'' came into being

Things were ending now. Class 6 was starting when class 5 was ending. And we were having a silly childhood quarrel with our friend Nimmi.
''Nimmi, do you have any idea how RUDE you have become? We TOTALLY miss the old Nimmi!''

Our all-girl friendly group of a lot of people. We absolutely loved to play and when we were playing a nice game of lock and key, a voice comes from behind us

''Do you guys mind if we join in too? I mean, we have nothing to do, so...''

We turn around to see two boys over there. They introduced themselves (we already knew them, being in the same complex and all but we got to know them better) as Opu and Ramyajit.

And we had fun like never before.

I didnt come down to play the next day, but i had my friend Anamika to update me with all the news in the school bus. ''We had so much of fun yesterday, me, opu, ramyajit, nimmi and opu's sister diya were literally running in the mud, wet from the rain! It was so much fun! you have to try it!''

I smiled. ''sure, i will''

Then i came down. And i was amazed how our boring days had turned into something so nice. Over the time, all of us became great friends...playing, goofing about....

We had another friend called Wani, who lived in the fourth tower of our complex, known as Chaturthi. There was a small garden with a real fun kids ride on the first floor. We made that our regular hangout place.

Before, i was looking up classes to join. Now i am postponing classes to come down.

Life takes such unexpected turns...<sigh>

Many people came and went, but me, nimmi,anamika,ramyajit,diya and opu remained the fastest of friends. There were also two patchups...A very dramatic one of Opu and Anamika and a long-time-crushes-tale-going-on Nimmi and Ramyajit. Me, i prefer to remain single ;)

Later on, we were joined by Apratim, who left as suddenly as he had come, and Anushna, the merry ''bubble'' of the group. Watching Anushna has always cheered me up. Her jumpy attitude, always ready to play, her vanishing-quickly sadness, her love of pink, which showed that she didnt care if she was girly. She LIKED it.

This, is how my friends, our group came to being, Or as i like to refer to it, DA GRoup!!!

 

Tommy Or Tabby?

This is crazy.
I can't believe this. I mean, how often do you get such news?
I am literally falling off my chair, my sides are ACHING with laughter. My mom had just called. She was at the vet hospital with my pet cat poppy, who was a stray cat who had forcefully adopted us!
We didnot want her running into season cycles so we decided to have her neutralized. And over there, halfway through the operation, the red faced angry doctor comes with poppy and yells at my parents ''WHO TOLD YOU THIS IS A GIRL? THIS IS A BOY!!!'' and was inquiring impatiently what to do next, followed by a hysterically laughing mom who was struggling for her phone to call and tell me this.
So this is exactly how my billi (tabby cat) became a billa (tomcat)!! :)
The doorbell rings and everyone enters, with my laughing family and an unconcious poppy. I don't know how will I get used to calling her a he now!
This incident had the same effect on my friends who couldnt stop laughing ''poppy pappu nikla'' (poppy turned out to be pappu!). Even their parents, who disapproved of adopting a stray animal, couldnt stop giving a little smile.
Having a pet is one of the biggest joys i have known. But with a pet, comes great responsibility (which my mom fulfills of course!! ;) )
I remember reading a comment on a Youtube video, which was about an extremely fat and sweet cat called Maru. My suggestions to please watch it. The person had said ''Watching Maru is the second best thing next to having a cat of your own.''
I couldn't agree more.
